Why Is The IMEI Number Not Showing On My Android/iPhone?

IMEI number is a unique number which is given by smartphone manufacture, and it’s embedded in the core system, which means that normally you won’t be able to access it, and there are very rare chances that you will experience the IMEI Number not found the issue on your smartphone/

However, there are scenarios that can lead to this issue.

  • The first scenario is if you get the wrong system update, and this scenario is very unlikely as most companies roll out updates systematically and they pass through a lot of checks and balances, which means that you will mostly get the right system updates without any major bugs.
  • The second and most likely scenario is that if you mess up with the core software of the smartphone by installing a custom ROM. As it’s a very complicated process, a lot of things can go wrong, and if anything goes wrong, you will lose the IMEI number of your device along with the official warranty.

These are the two scenarios that can lead to IMEI Numbers not being found, and in the next section, I’ll explain how you can solve this issue.

How To Solve IMEI Number Not Find Issue On Android & iPhone?

Now that you know what can cause this issue on your smartphone let me explain what you can do to solve this issue.

If you haven’t tempered with the core software of your smartphone and you are facing this issue due to the wrong software update, you can contact the nearest repair center of your smartphone’s manufacturer and get their help. They will most likely restore the software, and you will get your IMEI Back.

Now, if you tried to root your device, it means that your warranty is void, and you can’t contact your smartphone manufacturer as they might report you for tempering with an IMEI number. In this case, you can try the available solutions to fix the issue.

For example, this issue is very common with devices that have MTK processors, and there are apps that can help you fix this issue. So, if you have a Smartphone with an MTK processor, you can use the following method.

  • Download MTK Engineering Mode App from the Internet. Please note that this method will only work on rooted devices with MTK Processor.
  • Once the app is downloaded, open it and go to MTK Settings.
  • Now find Connectivity and tap it.
  • Tap CDS Information and go to Radio Information.
  • Now select Phone 1 and type “AT+EMGR=1,7,{Insert your IMEI Number}
  • Similarly, if you have a dual SIM Smartphone, enter the same command with a second IMEI Number.
  • Now wait, and once it’s done, you will see that IMEI is back, and your device will be connected to the Network.
  • That’s it.

Does IMEI Change After A Factory Reset?

IMEI is embedded into the core software of your smartphone, and it doesn’t change when you factory reset your smartphone.

It can only change if you root your device and manually remove it or tamper with the core software of your device. Once it’s changed or lost, it’s very difficult to restore it, which is why I won’t recommend you to temper with the core software of your smartphone.

Can I Recover My IMEI Number Without Root?

It’s almost impossible to recover IMEI Number without root as there are a lot of checks and balances in the core software, which make it difficult for users to change IMEI.

So, once your IMEI is lost, you will most likely need to root or jailbreak your device to recover IMEI.

I Haven’t Tempered With My IMEI, But Still, I’m Unable To Connect With My Network – What To Do?

If you haven’t tempered with your IMEI number but still you are unable to connect with your Network carrier, then it could be due to the fact that someone else is using your IMEI Number.

If someone has cloned your IMEI and you both try to connect with Network at the same time, the Network will block both users, and they won’t be able to access Network.

The easiest way to find it out is to use the online IMEI Checkers, which can provide Information about your IMEI. You can check this guide where I have explained how to know if IMEI is blacklisted.

Once you know that your IMEI is blacklisted, you should contact your Network carrier, and they might remove you from the Blacklist if you have a genuine case. If this doesn’t work, you can contact your local law enforcement agency and file a case to track down that person.
