Smartwatches have improved a lot over the years, and now they are better than ever.
Modern smartwatches can track activities, monitor Stress, ECG, monitor Skin Temperature, and do many other things.
But, the question is: Can a Smartwatch have its own Phone Number? Can I duplicate my Phone’s number?
Let’s find out.
Can A Smartwatch Have Its Own Phone Number?
When it comes to Smartwatches, they can have their own number, but it mainly depends on which version of Smartwatch you have.
If you have the Bluetooth version of the Smartwatch, your Smartwatch can’t have its own number. The only way you can receive calls & messages on your Smartwatch if you sync the Smartwatch with your smartphone via Bluetooth.
However, if you have the cellular version of the Smartwatch, then you can surely have your own number, but technically that number will be linked to your phone number at the carrier’s end.
So, if someone calls on your phone number and you are not near, the call will be re-routed to your smartwatch number, and you will receive that call on your smartwatch number.
However, your watch can also operate standalone, and it won’t need your smartphone to make or receive calls. If you want to make calls from your watch, you will need to have the data plan from your network carrier.
If you have the Apple Watch, most carriers in the U.S. have their data plans available for it, and you can easily pick it. In the U.S., the Following network carriers support Apple Watch.
- C Spire
- T-Mobile USA
- US Cellular
- Verizon Wireless
- Xfinity Mobile
If you are unable to configure your Apple Watch’s data plan, you can check my guide, where I have discussed this topic in detail.
Similarly, if you have the Samsung Galaxy Watch, you can also use a cellular data plan for your watch. In the U.S., the following Network carriers support the Galaxy Watch.
- US Cellular
Similarly, if you have another cellular smartwatch, you can get the data plan from supported carriers and make or receive calls.
